A record 111 riders came out for Stage 6's time trial all hoping to set personnel best times or to challenge for the course records on the Ride with Rendall/ Peak Winter Series time trial course. The time trial course is the bench mark of fitness in the series as it is the only course that gets repeated throughout the 17 race series.
Aaron Fillion's 2006 record of 34:36.7 remains intact for now but looks destined to fall the next time the series returns to the time trial course on Stage 11. Ottawa's Mike Nash, came within striking distance of the record and is left wondering "what if" as he came closest to the record when he posted a time of 34.42.6. Second place went to Marc Boudreau who rode to a time of 35.25.0 and doing so closed the gap in the GC to series leader Warren MacDonald who took third (36.05.5).
While record numbers attempted the stage this past week, Natasha Elliot's 2005 time of 38:02.6 still remains the time to beat in the womans category however that record also looks certain to fall in the future with Sue Schlatter finishing within 28 seconds 38.31.1. Sue's time was good enough to take the win and 13th overall on the stage. Second and third places went to Tenille Hoogland (39.31.8) and Cynthia Wilson (40:40.4) respectively.
