When: January 22-26
The National Team Training Centre for Cycling in Victoria (NTTC-V) will host an Olympic Pooling Camp next week with many top cyclists from across Canada attending, including Max Plaxton, Erinne Willock, Kiara Bisaro and Alexandra Wrubleski. Also present at the camp will be Canadian Cycling Association CEO/Secretary General Lorraine Lafreniere and CCA president Pierre Blanchard.
"The purpose of the camp is to provide all of the athletes with cutting-edge testing and evaluation, and to provide education pertaining to the up-coming Olympic Games in Beijing," said NTTC-V head coach Houshang Amiri.
The schedule will include testing at the PacificSport Performance Lab at Uvic, seminars and information sessions at Commonwealth Place, and individual appointments with performance specialists in the areas of sports medicine, sports psychology, nutrition, and physiotherapy.
The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) in partnership with the PacificSport, established the NTTC-V to optimize the training of Canada's National Cycling Team. The NTTC-V, led by head coach Amiri, works closely with the high performance program at PacificSport and with National Team coaches. The Victoria centre is the first of its kind in Canada, with plans to establish a parallel centre in the East.
