RWR/ Peak Winter Series; Stage10

Riders faced a course of a different kind when they lined up for the start of Stage 10 of the Ride with Rendall/ Peak winter series. On the longest course in the series history (37.98km), riders faced a an extended flat section of 17km before their legs were shocked with a steep 5 km climb followed by some rollers before cresting the plateau that returned them to the flatlands. On a course truly for the power riders, Warren MacDonald, Aaron Fillion and Marc Boudreau wasted little time separating themselves from the field on the way to posting some impressive speeds and wattage numbers. In the end, Warren took the win over Aaron and Marc and proved he is back after suffering in the last few stages.

The woman's field played out much the same as it has been in the past few stages with Sue Schlatter taking the win once again over Tenille Hoogland. The surprise of the day was 15yr old Lindsay Anderson who finished 3rd place in the woman's category.

The stage is now set for a show down in the upcoming Stage 11 Time Trial between the current course record holder (Aaron Fillion), the 2007 series leader Marc Boudreau and the 2006 Winter series Champion Warren MacDonald. Riders will have another crack at breaking the course records held by Aaron Fillion (34:36.7 in 2007) and Natasha Elliot (38:02.6 in 2006).

The TT is the only stage of the 17 race series that is repeated so riders can try to set new course records and personal bests on a profile that is used once a month throughout the series. Right now the challenge is out to see if anyone can beat Natasha or Aaron's course records. Remember new riders to the series ride for free the first time out so you have nothing to loose.
