Tour of Pakistan Update
Here is a little bit more information from the wife of Scott Laliberte (one of three Canadians at the race) who just spoke to him on the phone last night.
Larry Zimich is sitting in 6th overall; he was sitting in third for quite some time but due to a bad "road" day with flat tires he lost some time. Scott has unfortunately been disqualified with a number of other riders for coming in behind the main field after tucking himself behind some of the vehicles.
While most riders that were dropped from the main field tuck themselves in behind vehicles for safety reasons these riders were disqualified. Riders are not allowed to go anywhere without an escort to ensure safety. A protest was put in for the disqualification but it was denied. Scott is now allowed to sit at the back of the race, ride and feed his team-mates.
All three Canadian riders have been suffering from stomach and digestion problems but are managing to ride through it. They have just had a rest day in Lahore and will be completing stages on Wednesday and Thursday with the final stage being on Friday. Then it is off to Islamabad to start the "Tour de Islamabad".
