2007 Edmonton Juventus U23 Racing Team
Alberta cycling club launches new program for young racers.
The Edmonton Juventus Cycling Club is launching a new racing program for Category 2, under 23 riders. The exciting new Juventus U23 Espoir Race Team has just geared up to support young talented riders to achieve national and international experience.
Looking to recruit one more Espoir rider for the upcoming 2007 season, the team consists of Mike Bidniak from Edmonton, 2005 Junior National Cyclocross Champion and Shaun Adamson from Edmonton, 2006 U23 National Cyclocross bronze medalist. Both riders have extensive Alberta Team experience on special projects and have represented Canada at World Cyclocross Championships in Europe. Program director and manager is Bruce Copeland, racing along side Mike and Shaun.
"The best part of our new program," says Juventus club president Don Fox "is that it offers the up- and-coming young athletes in our Junior and U17 programs the opportunity to qualify for this U23 Espoir Team, supporting the "next step" in their young cycling careers."
Fox adds that only through key sponsors and partners can a program of this level be successful. Proud supporters of the Juventus U23 Espoir Race Team include the greats - River Valley Cycle and Kona Bicycles - providing the awesome orange Kona Zing Supreme bicycle and racing equipment. Look for the classic blue and yellow Juventus jerseys flying by on orange rigs this summer.
Competing on road and track, 2007 events include races across Alberta, B.C. and the Northwest US with a strong focus on Alberta Provincial RR and Criterium Championships, BC Tour of Delta, Gastown GP, Giro di Burnaby, Mount Hood Classic SR and the Cascade Classic SR. The plans for 2008 focus on Provincial, National U23 Championships, and UCI Cyclocross events in Canada.
