Pound to Court of Arbitration?

WADA head Richard Pound has indicated that he is a candidate for the presidency of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The CAS is the tribunal that is the final avenue of appeal for cases concerning sanctions.

Pound's term as the president of WADA ends in November of this year, after a sometimes controversial seven year run. The outspoken Montreal lawyer gained notoriety for implying cycling was doing little to stem the use of banned substances. He has battled publicly with the UCI and implied certain cyclists (including Lance Armstrong) have used banned substances. His supporters applaud Pound for exposing unsavoury practices, while his detractors say he is abusing his position and tainting all of sport.
