W.O.W Site Updated for 1999

W.O.W. is pleased to announce that we have updated and revised our site for 1999. W.O.W. presents races, tours and learn to ride clinics for mountain bike enthusiasts in Ontario. A complete list of all of our events is available on the site. We've added new features like winter training tips, handy checklists for racers and casual riders, and a great links page with stuff for the MTB addict and the more eccentric. We maintain our site ourselves so you can expect weekly updates, the usual collection of great photos (last year's are still up!) and maps of how to get to our events, course maps and profiles, download able registration forms and all sorts of useful items. All of our registration forms will be up in the next few days. W.O.W is very committed to online help for Ontario's riders. If you can't get the answer somewhere else, drop us a line.

Big event news for this year is the Kelso nO-CUP on May 23. The focus is for Sport and Beginner riders. Expect a very different race. The other big news is that this summer is going to see the 10TH AND FINAL W.O.W. ENDURO on July 18th. This was the first Enduro in Ontario and it has always been the best. Expect the same great 60km route as last year with a few "tweaks" just for fun. This is going to be your last chance to ride this epic. Don't forget about the Mansfield O-Cup on June 26-27. The XC is still the best course in Ontario. Make sure you mark your calendar.

We have enjoyed (and winced) at the many postings on the Canadian Cyclist Forum regarding the OCA. Much of the discussion has focused on the membership and licensing, but there are many implications for riders who normally just purchase a One-day license, or those who do Citizen's events. Timed Uphill dash planned as part of celebrations as turns 250

Halifax is turning 250 years old this summer and we have organized an uphill 100 m dash. The event will be held on Citadel Hill, located in the center of Halifax's downtown and will take place on June 25, 26, and 27. The event will be combined with a running 100m dash on the same site. The same weekend, Halifax is planning a huge party including 200 fully dressed British soldiers charging the Citadel Hill Fort(circa 1750's). The city is expecting no less than 75,000 visitors to the site that weekend.

Call for Entries - The Art of Cycling, Hamilton's First Exhibition of Bicycle Art

The Ontario Public Interest Group (OPIRG), Recycle Cycles, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton are currently soliciting art works and artifacts that reflect all aspects of cycling culture in Southern Ontario. Works of fine art, photography, graphic art, as well as specially modified or hand-designed bicycles, bicycle parts or bike accessories are all welcome.
