All Weather Challenge Time Trial at Hilton Falls - Ontario
Hilton Falls Conservation Area (Milton) is proud to present the 8th annual All Weather Challenge MTB Time Trial this Sunday, April 1st. All proceeds from this race will go towards the maintenance of the 33km of trail in the park. There is a nice 5km loop for the youngsters and 14km loop for the oldsters. For more experienced riders you can ride 2 laps of the circuit.
The singletrack is in really good shape, but there's still some ice where the XC ski grooming has packed it down. Hopefully today's warmth and rain will take care of that by the weekend. Even if there's no snow left, the ever present rocky technical sections remain. The event goes rain or shine. There are prizes for the fastest racers and lots of draw prizes for everyone thanks to event sponsor Spokes 'N Slopes of Milton. It's lots of fun.
Cost is $20 for under 14 years, and $25 for over 14 years and no race licence is required. The park is closed to the non-racing public during the race, but spectators are more than welcome and there is no entry fee for them so pack up the whole family and bring them along. For a registration form go to www.conservationhalton.com/events.cfm?itemid=3664 or call Hilton Falls at 905-854-0262 from 8:30am to 4:30pm every day.
Due to the icy conditions on the main trails Hilton Falls is not yet open for mountain biking. Please be patient. If the thaw continues the trails will be officially open for riding this Saturday, March 31st and the race course will be marked and available for pre-riding. Please call the park office to inquire about the trail conditions.
