Pre-Worlds Track Report

The Track World Championships get underway tomorrow morning in Palma on the island of Mallorca. Zach Bell takes part in the first event of the Championships (note: other than the special pre-Worlds Omnium event) - the Men's Individual Pursuit. Bell was originally scheduled to race only in the Points Race, but added the Pursuit after the event schedule showed that it would be a good warm up for the Points Race on Saturday.
"There is no pressure on Zach" explained Team Manager Kris Westwood, "We expect that he will do a good time, but realistically his chances of qualifying for the Olympics in the Pursuit are slim, while he has a good chance in the Points Race."
Westwood said that the riders like the track, but that it is still "A work in progress. The track is quick, and it is a beautiful facility, but it is a little bit rough. The building is brand new, and there is dust everywhere - the track seems like it could do with another sanding and to be ridden in a bit more. Yesterday it rained, and they discovered that there are lots of leaks - there were buckets everywhere to catch the drips!"
