SRAM Expands Brake Recall to Include Canada

SRAM's February 9th brake recall has been expanded to include Canada, after they determined that aftermarket Force brakesets may have been sold by Canadian distributor Cycles Lambert, and some affected brakes may have appeared on bicycle models sold in Canada. The initial recall affected only the Force front brake recall, and was then expanded to include the Force labeled rear brakes.

SRAM will replace any Force brake caliper assemblies, front and rear, produced within date codes from 01JUN06 to 15SEP06 and 35T6XXXXXXX to 39T6XXXXXXX.

The expanded recall is motivated by additional metallurgical analysis coupled with one failed rear mounting bolt. SRAM believes replacing both front and rear brakes at this time is the safest and least intrusive path for its customers.

The affected brake calipers were installed on the following makes and models of bicycles (some of which may have been sold in Canada): Specialized (S-Works Tarmac SL, S-Works Roubaix); Trek (Project One Madone models); Fuji (Fuji SL1); Scott USA (Addict R3); Bianchi (928 SL); Kuota (Kuota KOM, Kuota KREDO, Kuota KEBEL); Orbea (Orca, Aqua, Loboular, Opal, Arin, Aqua Dama, Dama Race, Diva); Kestrel (Evoke SL/Force, RT700/Force); Titus (Vuelo, Solera) and Sampson (Diablo).

Dealers should contact their supplier, consumers should contact a local retailer for the affected brand.
