On Saturday June 9th, the Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club will be holding a Youth Road Race for boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (birth years 1991 to 1997). This is the first event of the OCA's Youth Cup racing series and is just for kids. There are no other events taking place. Anyone with a safe bicycle (road or mountain) and a helmet can participate.
The 4 km course is safe, mainly flat with no steep hills and is located in East Gwillimbury, northeast of Newmarket.
There will be two events, a time trial and a road race. Boys and girls will have separate races and distances based on two year age categories. The overall winners will receive medals. As well, there will be draw prizes, freebies and a BBQ.
Please note that time trial bikes, aero equipment or bar ends will not be permitted.
Participants must pre-register. Registration opens three weeks before the event at the OCA web site.
We encourage you to support youth cycling and bring a child to the race.
