Barry Out with Pneumonia
After Michael Barry (T-Mobile) unexpectedly pulled out of the Giro d'Italia only one stage into the race, there were a lot of concerns about why he had not been riding up to his usual level. Michael just sent an e-mail explaining what is going on:
I found out I have had pneumonia for quite some time but it was misdiagnosed so I never had it taken care of properly and it got progressively worse. I have likely had the infection in my lung since Paris Nice as that is when I first started having the symptoms. Once I visit the Doctor this week I should have a better idea of when I can start racing again. I am glad I now know why I didn't feel great all spring and kept getting sick - I feel fortunate and relieved to now be heading in the right direction towards getting healthy again.
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
