Rendall Wins Ontario XC Ski Championship
(courtesy Amanda Butcher)
The Ontario Cross Country Ski Championships took place this past weekend in Onaping Falls (40 min north of Sudbury). There were two races - the 10K Skate on Saturday, and the 20K Classic on Sunday. As you are aware, many cyclists in Canada use XC skiing as a way to train throughout the winter months.
"Rocket" Reece Rendall, who Mountain Bike and XC Ski races for Team Scary Fast/PowerBar/Oakley, finished 2nd in the 10K Skate and won the 20K Classic race in the Masters 30-34 Catagory. Reece also won the Keskinada 28K Skate race this season.
Rob Cheskey, who Road & Cyclocross races for Hamilton Cycling Club and the Halton XC club, finished 4th in the 10K Skate and 3rd in the 20K Classic race in the Masters 40-44 Category.
