Kolton Chapman of Dawson Creek won both Challenge Cup races, Sunday, making him the first Dawson Creek rider ever to win a 'double header'. He won the morning Bear Mountain hill climb/time trial with a time of 27:22 minutes. Pat Ferris (Bliz) was next 10 seconds back. Kent Pedersen of Dawson Creek was third at 29:19.
Kolton also won the afternoon 50 km road race with a time of 1:09:42 hours, 24 seconds ahead of Pat Ferris. Roger St. Jean was third at 1:11:06.
Dawson Creek won the Bear Mountain event with 23 points to the Blizzards' 19 and GP's 10. The Blizzards won the road race at 35 to DC's 25 and GP's 9. Overall, the Blizzards maintained their strangle hold over top spot with 502 points to GP's 290 and DC's 148.
Other Bear Mountain times were Dave Jaeger 4th at 30:51, Francis Plum 33:25 and Dan Strasky 36:02. Ken Nix won the shortened version at 21:02 and Jan Schmidt next at 28:09.
The road race finishers were Gary Hilderman edged Richard Wood for 4th at 1:14:35, Dave Jaeger 1:17:29, Ken Nix 1:17:47, Francis Plum 1:18:21, Owen Giebelhaus 1:27:55, Sam Keats 1:36:35, Sara Kolkea 1:57:26 and Jan Schmidt 1:57:26. Suzi Bach had 1:57:26 for the 40 k and Damian Pedersen 37:22 for the 20 k.
Results from the riders in Edmonton were unavailable at press time.
