With CCA scheduling the Canadian National Cyclocross Championships the earliest it has ever been (and at least a month and a half earlier than any other country in the world) we have had to do some shuffling of our Cross on the Rock: Year #2 Schedule.
You will note that we have one conflict with a Vancouver race with our Duncan event and Vanier Park. We apologize for that but thought that the island racers would want to try to get in another race prior to the early-nationals without traveling off island the weekend before going to Kamloops. Sorry to long-established Vanier Park!

Escape Velocity Grand Prix of Cyclo-cross - NEW LOCATION

Euro Style Cyclocross with a West Coast Flare
Team Escape Velocity is pleased to present the second annual Grand Prix of Cyclocross on an exciting new course in beautiful Coquitlam. Due to the City of Vancouver labour dispute, the venue for the EV Grand Prix of Cyclocross has been changed from Vancouver's West Point Grey Academy to Coquitlam's Town Centre Park. This is the same venue as Escape Velocity's November "Crossquitlam!" race, with some special modifications to keep the racing fresh and exciting.
"The City of Vancouver labour dispute left us unable to get the appropriate permits to hold the race at West Point Grey Academy and we were scrambling for an alternate location. However, the City of Coquitlam came through with the perfect venue on very short notice," Stephen Cork, Team Escape Velocity race director said. "We are really excited about the Coquitlam course and I expect it will test the endurance and bike handling skills of all participants."
The EV GP of 'Cross will be a true cyclocross course complete with Euro-style off camber grassy knolls, pavé, stairs and barriers with a few special West Coast influenced sections that include a beach volleyball court, a BMX track and some not-so-North-Shore inspired single track. The course layout will be perfect for spectators and all sections are within easy walking distance of the start/finish area.
"This course will be technically demanding and racers will have to be prepared to ride right on the edge of their abilities." Stephen Cork, added. "Imagine hitting the BMX track at full speed with thirty other riders on your 'cross bike? It will be exciting for sure."
The course has been designed to allow for plenty of passing opportunity and will be great for creating and building on rivalries with your fellow racers.
Escape Velocity thanks the City of Coquitlam for accommodating this last-minute change of location.
