Belgium Names Three Riders to Olympic Mountain Bike Squad
The Belgian cycling federation has named the three riders it intends to send to Beijing for men's mountain biking, since it is now certain that the country will receive the maximum three spots for men (just beating out the U.S. for the fifth and final country ranking for three positions).
Belgium will send mountain bikers Roel Paulissen and Filip Meirhaeghe, plus cyclo-cross star Sven Nys. Nys has sporadically indicated an interest in going to Beijing, and has had some strong results at Mountain Bike World Cups and Worlds in 2007. He finished 16th at the Worlds in Fort William, Scotland.
