Press Release

The Okanagan based Total Restoration Cycling Team has made some changes to its roster for 2008 which will see an increased women's presence by adding new firepower to its line-up. New additions to the team include 2007 BC Cup Road Race Series Champion and Israeli National Champion Leah Goldstein of Vernon, who brings a wealth of International racing experience to the team and will split her time between racing in BC and USA. Goldstein who often rides away from her competitors on hilly courses will be joined by new recruit Sarah Stewart of Victoria/Osoyoos who also brings multiple BC Cup podium finishes and experience to the women's team. Returning riders include 2006 National Triathlon Team Member Gillian Kornell, 24 Hour World Solo Mountain Bike Medalist Monica Nelson and criterium specialist Jennifer Shultz. The men's squad has most of the 2007 riders returning which include Brad Kerr, Carlos Capela, Cory Forrest, Dan Skinner, Owen Harrison, Sean Williams, Tim Sherstobitoff and Trevor Haaheim.

While the focus of the team has always been to raise the profile of cycling in the Okanagan, it was also designed to build a launch pad for developing junior cyclists. With 2007 Western Canada Games Gold Medalist Owen Harrison moving from Junior up to the Men's Espoir squad, Peachland local Evan Guthrie will fill top honors in the junior division with a split road and mountain bike schedule. Guthrie who is the 2007 Western Canada Games Mountain Bike Gold Medalist also earned a silver medal at the Under 17 National Mountain Bike Championships, a silver medal at the National Cyclo-Cross Championships and qualified for the 2008 Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Italy.

The team is pleased to announce that Total Restoration Services, the Okanagan's premier sole focus disaster restoration company is returning as title sponsor providing substantial financial support allowing the team to maintain a full race schedule. Returning sponsors include Kelowna Physiotherapy Associates, Kelowna Toyota, Okaped, Ecotrend Ecologics, Image One MRI, Okanagan Health and Performance, Do Matcha, Specialized Canada, Champion Systems and Gerick's Cycle. New sponsors include Stonefield Development Consultants, a Vancouver based Landscape Architecture and Land Use Planning firm with offices in Calgary, Vancouver and Colorado.

The team has partnered with Specialized Canada for its 2nd year with product support in the way of time trial and road bikes, helmets, shoes, glasses and gloves. The men will be riding the S-Works Tarmac SL or the Tarmac Expert bike while the women will be sporting the women's specific S-Works Ruby SL. New for 08 is the Specialized 2D helmet, the lightest production helmet in the world which will nicely compliment their S-Works Pro Road shoe, also the lightest production road shoe in the world.

The team will focus on the BC Cup Road Race Series, select Pacific North-West Stage Races, along with the Okanagan Criterium and Time Trial Race series. The riders are busy preparing for their first spring races which begin in March and will be followed closely by a team training camp in early April.
