Bendigo International Madison cycling classic - Field takes Shape

Canada's and New Zealand's madison champions will race in next month's Bendigo International Madison cycling classic.

The Canadian line-up of Zack Bell and Svein Tuft is one of four overseas teams to contest the 37th running of the madison.

City still working out kinks in bike-path maintenance plan

After more than three months, 300 centimetres of snow and on a day with a windchill of minus 24, the man who inaugurated a downtown Montreal bike path that's open year-round said the controversial thoroughfare remains an all-season asset for the city.

"We have 5,500 kilometres of streets in this city," said André Lavallée, the Montreal executive committee member responsible for transportation. "Why not have a few kilometres downtown that are open in winter for cyclists?"

CSC Launches New Location Awareness Solution at the 2008 Amgen Tour of California

Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it will launch its new global Location Object Field Tracking (LOFT) solution at the 2008 Amgen Tour of California professional cycling race. CSC's LOFT solution will give fans a unique "bird's eye view" of the race by tracking all of the riders and teams online throughout the duration of the eight-day, 650-mile race. Designed to help organizations to visualize people, vehicles and infrastructure anywhere on Earth to better protect and account for mobile assets, LOFT will be demonstrated in a real-world test during the Tour of California, Feb. 17-24.

Private-equity firm buys Inside Communications

Boulder-based Inside Communications, the publisher of VeloNews and Inside Triathlon, sold itself to private-equity firm Falconhead Capital.

Falconhead Capital, LLC, a private equity firm specializing in investments in consumer-focused businesses in the sport, leisure, lifestyle, and media categories, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Inside Communications, Inc. (ICI), of Boulder, Colorado, a leading publisher in the competitive cycling and triathlon segments of the endurance sport industry.

London Mayor Announces Major Cycling Scheme

London will adopt a bicycle hire scheme similar to a popular initiative in Paris under a $1 billion cycling investment package announced by the mayor on Monday.

Under the plan, part of a series of environmental measures due in coming days, 6,000 bicycles will be available for hire from ranks every 300 metres (600 feet) throughout the city centre.
