Trans Mexicana

After a 6 hr bus ride through the Mexican jungle yesterday the Trans Mexicana started up again with a very challenging 72 km stage 3.

Wednesday's stage was very hilly and brought the competitors up into huge pine forests and the race high point of 2970m before dropping down into a cacti desert north of Oaxaca. Lupillo demonstrated why he's a 2 time national champion as he rode away from his main rivals Travis Macey and Cory Wallace early on in the stage . I the end he came away with a 7 minute victory over Cory who was able to outclimb Travis to take second.

Doug Hammell had another amazing ride and came in 1st in the Master Category and solidified his lead in the Master GC.

Thursday's stage of 120 km will bring the competitors across the desert to the small town of San Cristobal Amatlan
