KELSO FAT TIRE FESTIVAL - MAY 23rd
Want to save some bucks? Come to Sporting Life Bikes & Boards (2454 Yonge St.) or Sporting Life Sherway Gardens on Thursday, May 20th between 6 and 9 pm and you can register for the Kelso Fat Tire Festival at the pre-registration price! Save some bucks and shop for all your racing needs.
Time for something a little different as far as mountain bike races are concerned. We're trying to take the intensity level down a notch or two. Lots of start times so much less traffic on the race course, a Beginner/Sport Women's Only race, Clydesdale Class for the larger folks and of course a Free Kid's Race. The prizes are great, with the winners getting Sporting Life Dollars, which they can cash in at the Sporting Life Store at the race, or cash them in later at any of the Sporting Life locations. Also there's a $250 cash prize for the fastest Beginner/Sport lap time. Decision time. Go like crazy for one lap and then have nothing left for the win, or pace yourself for the victory. Tough choice either way!
The course is a little shorter than normal at around 9km, but still a good challenge. Course conditions are awesome with the rain last night knocking down the dust. The trail is super hard packed and extremely fast. No sand anywhere either. There's a new finish area to the east of the Chalet and a new start area too. You‚ll be pleasantly pleased with all the changes. Registration opens at 7am. Remember start times are way different - for full details (and a course map) go to the W.O.W. website at www.wowmtb.com. See you there!
