The Schick Xtreme3 Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race (MOMAR) series will begin its 9th season by returning to Squamish, the adventure capital of Canada, on May 10.
Professional adventure racer Jenn Segger-Gigg has utilized her extensive international race experience to create a world-class course that is both challenging and adventure-filled. The 40km+ course features mountain biking, trekking, bushwhacking, orienteering, and rappelling.
"We will be sending racers through some of the best terrain Squamish has to offer including a new trail network that even locals don't know about" said Segger-Gigg. "And the rappel site is awesome - 100' high with the most amazing view of the valley."
"We are expected to have a great turnout with 250 racers coming Washington State, Alberta, New York and all over BC" said Race Director Bryan Tasaka. Another stellar line-up of adventure racers will be coming out for this race with last year's winners, Garry Robbins' Team Helly Hansen / MOMAR, returning to defend their title against Justin Mark and Jeff Reimer's Team Helly Hansen VI. Other notable favourites include Frontrunners' Normon Thibault and Team Oak Bay Bikes featuring the co-ed duo of Sean Lunny and Cheryl Beatty.
The after-party promises to keep with MOMAR's legendary tradition, providing a gourmet dinner, a lively awards ceremony with tons of great prizes, a slide show, and the return of the HairFarmers -- Whistler's favorite band!
MOMAR is also looking for up to 75 volunteers to assist in the coordination of this event. All volunteers receive a MOMAR T-shirt, entry to our infamous post-race dinner and party and the thrill of experiencing adventure racing up close.
