Newmarket Youth Race Registration
Press release
Registration is now open for the Tour of Speed, the Newmarket Cycling Club's youth road race (June 14th) . It is open to all boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (birth years 1992 to 1998). To pre-register just go to the Ontario Cycling Association's web site at www.ontariocycling.org and click on the "Online Registration" link. (Citizen's Permits are available on race day)
This is a stand alone event, just for the kids, so it is a perfect opportunity for them to try a real race. All that is needed is a helmet and a road or mountain bike that is safe to ride. (Please note that aero equipment, time trial bikes or bull horns are not permitted). There are two events, a time trial and a road race, with separate races for boys and girls in two-year age categories. Medals will be awarded in each category based on results from both events. But you do not need to participate in both races.
There will also be a BBQ and other freebies including draw prizes for a Norco Junior road bike and Shimano Wheels. This is all made possible by Norco, Shimano, Louis Garneau, Hammer Nutrition, Pedal Magazine, Ryeka Sport, Orbea, Sound Solutions, Vince's Market, the OCA, York Region Police and the Town of East Gwillimbury.
The road race course is a safe 4 km loop with no steep hills.
Bring your child, niece, nephew or neighbour and support youth cycling.
