The 2008 Bearspaw Open, Presented With the RCMP - A Career Nowhere Near Ordinary - Calgary

The 2008 Bearspaw Open, presented with the RCMP - a Career Nowhere Near Ordinary, is still "Go" for Thursday August 7th in NW Calgary. Running as a part of the new Calgary Bike Week series of races, The Open will also be playing host to the 2008 Alberta Youth Provincial Road Race Championship during the day, with Elite categories racing in the late afternoon and evening. Schedule and race registration information will be posted soon at

Race organizers would like to welcome all spectators and participants to join us at Race HQ on event day for "Dinner & a Bike Race", a fundraising BBQ for the Calgary Olympic Oval's Youth Cycling Development Program. Come out after work to watch the Elite category races while enjoying some tasty food and the great views of the Rocky Mountains across the Bow River Valley.

The Bearspaw Open is proud to welcome the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - A Career Nowhere Near Ordinary - to the event. The RCMP is hiring, and will have recruiting staff on-site at Race HQ throughout race day. Forget ordinary. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police offers meaningful work, vast opportunities, the chance to serve across Canada and a career like no other. Visit for more details on a career nowhere near ordinary with the RCMP. Be sure to keep an eye out for the new heritage edition retro highway patrol cruisers and Harley Davidson motorbikes as part of the race caravan on course.

The Bearspaw Open is a not-for-profit event sanctioned by the Alberta Bicycle Association, with all proceeds from the race being channeled back to the Alberta Provincial Cycling team. Come out for a great race on a unique course, some great BBQ, and see your racing dollars get re-invested in the development of the sport.
