Canadian Cyclist Fantasy Pool Standings After Stage 12
The Canadian Cyclist Fantasy Pool has seen some serious revisions to the standings, now that disgraced Saunier Duval-Scott rider Riccardo Rico has been removed after his 'A' sample non-negative for a new form of EPO. Ricco's non-negative came after his win in stage 6, so, under the "Landis Rule" for our competition, all points obtained by Ricco from that stage onward (including the stage 6 win) have been removed and given to the appropriate rider.
The primary benficiaries are Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) who wins stage 6 and Vladimir Efimkin (AG2R La Mondiale) who wins stage 9. Ricco's Climber's Jersey points go to his team mate David de la Fuente who, of course, is now out of the Tour along with the rest of the team (each rider on the team, incidently, receives -20 points for abandoning), and Sebastien Lang (Gerolsteiner) has taken the lead in the Climber's competition.
So, after all these adjustments, and including today's stage, the standings have changed quite a bit. CG now leads with 158 points, ahead (by 2 points) of Earlybird, with Dayfour in third at 154 points. NONE of the top-10 players have Ricco on their team, and those that did took a -19 point hit after all the changes were factored in. We will be awarding our Week 2 prizes from Specialized after Stage 14 on Saturday.
