World Cup Standings - XC after #8
Canadians are well placed in the cross-country standings for the World Cup, with one event remaining (Schladming, Austria on September 12-14). Marie-Helene Premont (Rocky Mountain) has won the overall women's title, and Catharine Pendrel (Luna) is virtually assured the number two spot. Another ranking worthy of mention is Emily Battu (Toronto Trek Store) in sixth place in the U23 category. She is only 16 points out of fifth - will she attend the final race and try to move up?
On the men's side, Geoff Kabush (Maxxis) has moved into second overall, tied on points with world champion Christoph Sauser (Specialized). Both are behind the uncatchable Julien Absalon (Orbea). Depending upon how the final plays out, Kabush should be in the top-three. Seamus McGrath (Fuji) is currently 17th, but told us after his race in Beijing that his season is over, so he will possibly drop out of the top-20 standings after the final.
