Today marks the unofficial end of our B.C. "Summer". This is sad in some ways as the weather was not the best and we did not have enough of what I call, "Shorts and T at Night" nights. BUT with the Labour Day cross race in Seattle on it is a reminder that the cross season is finally upon us! The best case scenario is that you last raced cross back in January and so you have been away from the world of cross for only 8 or so months. The more realistic scenario is that it has been closer to 9 to 10 months since you have enjoyed the sweet pain, mud, dirt and joy of racing cyclocross. The wait is almost over. Only 2 weeks until the first race on Vancouver Island and 2 weeks minus 1 day until the first race in B.C.

We have a great series lined up for you on the Island this year. Six races spanning from September 14th to November 22nd. We will see some great racing action starting at Diver Lake Park in Nanaimo on September 14th. We have used this venue before in 2005 and 2006 and it is a great course to start the year. Lots of turns to make sure your tires are glued on properly. Not too many straight aways to make you feel like you are slightly out of shape. A "finesse" course rather than a "fitness" course. For all of our events we will be firing out complete information for each race the week before the event. This will have all the information you need to get to the venue, when the races are, points series information and hopefully all your questions answered. These will also be posted on the web site where you can find past results, links to photos and any other updated information.

September 14th there will be a short clinic as well as a pre-ride of the course with experienced cross racers before the Diver Lake event.

October 26th Arrowsmith Mountainbike Club will be putting on a cross ride/clinic in the Parksville area.

Help Us Get the Word Out!

I lost my complete cyclocross data base over the summer in a hard-drive meltdown so we need your help to get this information out. Feel free to forward this information on to anyone else in your club, organization or to riding partners as well as future cyclocrossers. We have beginner categories to encourage beginners to come out......so you don't need to be an expert cross racer. You don't even need a cross bike....a MTB will do fine. We love to see as many new faces as possible coming out to these events so drag someone new will you to ride, help out or be a spectator.
