2008 University Cup MTB Race Series - U-Cup #1 This Weekend

The 2008 University Cup mountain bike race series will be kicking into gear this weekend with U-Cup#1. University student athletes from across Ontario will be competing at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre. This will be the first of four competitions that will be taking place at various venues across Southern Ontario.

Queen's University Mountain Bike Team are the defending champions and will be doing their best to keep the title. Last year the team from the University of Guelph surprised many with their #2 ranking in the province, and they're keen to take the championship to Guelph for the first time.The University of Toronto squad will also be doing their best to bring the Cup back to Toronto.

The U-Cup was designed to welcome both male and female student athletes into the sport of mountain bike racing. There are both Beginner and Expert divisions. The focus of the U-Cup series is to ensure that the sport remains fun. This has been an excellent development model and has encouraged many new riders to move up to the Ontario and Canada Cup level races.
