Canadian cyclist inks deal with American team
Two years ago, Langley's Svein Tuft stopped, in his words, "dilly-dallying around" and began taking cycling seriously.

Now look at what's happened. Tuft, at 31, turned 2008 into a career year that's earned him a contract to ride in Europe and quite possibly a spot in the 2009 Tour de France.

Why are you coming back Lance? asks Leblanc
Former Tour de France director Jean-Marie Leblanc has questioned Lance Armstrong's motives for returning to race riding next year.

Leblanc, Tour director for all of Armstrong's seven titles, says in the editorial in the Velo Star review that the Texan took everyone by surprise by announcing his intention to bid for an eighth Tour de France in 2009.

French agency offers Lance doping retest
The French Anti-Doping Authority (AFLD) has offered Lance Armstrong a chance to retest his urine samples from the 1999 Tour - which, according to French newspaper L'Equipe allegedly contained traces of EPO.

Toronto Cyclists Union benefits from class action lawsuit
Toronto Community Foundation is distributing $231,922 to local initiatives as part of the latest settlement in a longstanding class action lawsuit involving price fixing by manufacturers of a rubber product known as EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) used in transportation and other areas.

Lance Armstrong switches from Shimano to SRAM Red and invests in company
Despite the collapse of the Lehman Brothers parent company, SRAM and Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking (LBMB) have completed their transaction, giving LBMB a 40 percent stake in SRAM.

"Getting to the finish line, given the current state of the financial markets, is a reflection of LBMB’s role as one of the leading private equity organisations in the middle market and our strong SRAM management team," said Stan Day, chief executive of SRAM.

More bikes than cars sold in Australia in 2007
In recent years the concept of "Green transport" has received a newly revived hype. Riding a bike was seen as a money-saving exercise in the seventies. Now, it is the "cut down greenhouse gases" slogan that is driving the global movement.

Green transport revolves around a simple idea ˆ switching to more efficient and environmentally friendly forms of transport. Bike riding, walking, using electric or hybrid vehicles and catching public transport are considered "green", while driving a standard "fuel burning" car is not.

Wiggins calls for Hoy knighthood
Team GB cyclist Bradley Wiggins has called for triple Olympic gold winner Chris Hoy to be handed a knighthood.

Wiggins won two gold medals at the Beijing Olympics while Hoy became the first British athlete in over 100 years to win three at a single Games

NY City CityRacks Design Competition Enries unveiled
Prototypes of the shortlisted entries in the CityRacks Design Competition were installed for public scrutiny at Astor Place in New York today, the jury are welcoming feedback via comments on the official site and will announce the winner October 24th, 2008.
