Team H&R BLOCK and KONA-ADOBE Join Forces

Alberta's Team H&R BLOCK and British Columbia's KONA-ADOBE are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to join together to form one of the strongest elite cycling teams in Canada. The name of the new combined team will be announced in the coming months. The team will be managed by Todd McCallum, Paul Blanchette, Gary Clarke and Carl Jacobson.

Team H&R BLOCK, a registered trade team, has just completed its third successful season and KONA-ADOBE their sixth. These highly successful programs earned 2008 Canadian National Championship medals including gold in the National Team Pursuit as well as multiple Provincial Championship medals. Both teams also secured victories in a number of premier events throughout Canada and the United States. The new, combined team will be well positioned for competition in the 2009 season.

Team H&R BLOCK and KONA ADOBE are proud of the achievements that its riders made in 2008 and are looking forward to even greater successes as a combined force in 2009.

Both teams have historically focused on the development of young riders (U26) so that they can reach their full potential as they progress to the highest levels of the sport in Canada and internationally. This synergy will be the cornerstone of the new program which will target the B.C. Cup, Alberta Road Cup, B.C. SuperWeek, the Canadian National Championships and a number of premier U.S. and Canadian events.

The combined team will also have the full support of a director sportif. Such support has been critical to the historical successes of both teams and it is anticipated that such support will be further enhanced for the combined team in the 2009 season.
