USA Woes

Just so you don‚t get the impression that Canadian races organizers and associations are alone in occasional, shall we say, screwups, we thought you would like to know that the U.S. national ITT championships (supposed to be held today) have been postponed. The reason? Well, it turns out that no one at the USCF (U.S. Cycling Federation) had checked the course in advance and, when they got there (Cincinnati, Ohio), officials were shocked to find out that the race was running on a four lane highway that was not closed to traffic. Therefore, cars and trucks would have been running right next to the riders, with only pylons separating them. The officials refused to allowed the event to happen (a wise move). Canada doesn‚t look so bad now, does it?
