Trek Red Truck p/b Mosaic Homes Builds for 2009
The Trek Red Truck Racing team presented by Mosaic Homes has finalized its men's and women's elite rosters with the signing of Jenny Trew, making a total of 18 riders representing the team and its sponsors heading into the 2009 season.
Jenny Trew had a terrific season last year, which was highlighted by a podium finish at the NRC Tour de Somerville behind USA criterium champion, Theresa Cliff-Ryan and Australian Olympian Kate Bates. She wore the top Canadian jersey at the first stage of the UCI Tour of PEI by finishing fourth, followed by winning the Coupe de la Paix in Montreal, Quebec and then placing second at the Canadian National Criterium Championships.
Closer to home, Trew also finished on the podium in BC Cup competition on multiple occasions and won the women's Team Pursuit gold at the Canadian National Track Championships. Trew commented on riding for her new team for 2009, "I am really excited to be based closer to home in Vancouver, BC and grateful for the opportunity to be part of an outstanding organization, infrastructure and surrounded by great people at Trek/Red Truck Racing."
Jenny joins an already impressive and talented team of riders, who achieved a great deal last season. Last years U23 Canadian Nationals Bronze Medal winner and National Team member for the Tour de L'Avenir, France and 2008 World Championships, Dave Vukets, returns for another season. As does Rob Britton, who was first overall in the inaugural Banff National Park Bike Fest in Alberta, 16th on GC at the Tour de Beauce in Quebec, and the overall winner at the Tour of Walla Walla in Washington state.
Jamie Sparling is also coming off an impressive season punctuated by a sixth place finish at the BC Road Championships, and third overall at the Banff Bike Fest. Tyler Trace is also back from a breakthrough season in which he was fourth in the Yaletown Grand Prix, and had a successful Cyclo Cross campaign after winning the BC Cup opener in the fall.
Seasoned veteran Kevin Noiles is also back with the team after winning the BC Cup Cyclo Cross Series overall and finishing fifth at the National Cyclo Cross Championships. Junior rider Kevin Thorpe continues to impress as he captured two gold and a bronze medal at the Canadian National Track Championships and third place at the Canadian Cyclo Cross Championships.
The team will attend a training camp in Santa Rosa, California from February 28th - March 8th before commencing the 2009 race season.
