Canadian sprinter Monique Sullivan has sent in a quick report on the team's arrival in Warsaw for the Track Worlds, which begin on Wednesday (March 23rd). [Editor's Note: We will arrive in Warsaw tomorrow to begin our live coverage of all the racing]
Here we are at Track Worlds! This is the most important race of the year for us, and we all know what we need to do to get ready. The atmosphere is relaxed but determined and we have everything we need. We even have a soigneur and a mechanic and have spent the first couple days learning how to ask for help! Racing starts Wednesday and is looking good for everyone!
With 3 British staff (note: this is the Canadian Team) our new favorite term is whingeing, we are mistakenly using the term pants and apparently lemon and sugar is better than Maple syrup on pancakes (Which are called something different ). Hopefully some of the British "winning dust" will wear off on us. I think I can see some in Tara's [Whitten's] hair.
Tara was very disappointed to miss both days of cross country skiing on Eurosport because of our track time. I had to remind her that she is a cyclist now, at the Track World Championships, and not skiing. The boys however, have been spending their days watching Paris Hilton find her new BFF. Myself, I have taking my hand at sewing a birthday present. Stars are proving very difficult.
We are ready and have trained hard.
