“I couldn't be more excited about the team this year,” said Coach Paul Kindree. “We have a slightly smaller roster than 2008 allowing us some extra freedom. We can offer more personal attention to the athletes and it has allowed the inclusion of some very keen, but less experienced younger riders. It is impressive to note that most of the team has competed at a provincial level, several are have been selected to the BC Team and several will be attending the National Championships in July.  Squamish should be very proud to have so many committed young athletes.”

The 2009 Season starts with High School races followed by the BC Cup series and for some of the riders there will be several Canada Cup races with hopes that they will be selected to represent BC at the National Championships in July.  This year is also a Canada Summer Games year where athletes from across the country congregate to compete with a couple of the riders are vying for positions on the BC Canada Summer Games Team.  Riders will also be competing in the local toonie races, the Test of Metal, Orecrusher and Gear Jammer.

Training calendars went out to riders early in January and we were able to start the season slightly earlier than usual. The year kicked off with a several session to the Burnaby Velodrome, interspersed with indoor trainer sessions, core strengthening and gym work followed up with road and trail riding.

Coach Paul Kindree is proud to announce Team Squamish 2009.
