The Blizzards' Colter Young won his third Challenge Cup race in a row, Sunday, at Dawson Creek's Sweetwater Sweat road race. He won the cold 60 km event with a time of 1:47:45 hours. Pat Ferris was second at 1:54:39 and Dawson Creeks' Chris Garoche was third at 1:56:13. BBC's Gary Hilderman was 4th at 1:56:51 and DC's Trevor Kolkea 5th at 2:01:11.
Race conditions were cold at the start at 5 degrees. Colter Young picked up the pace at the 5 km mark. Pat Ferris caught up and the duo worked together and pulled away from the pack. The elder Ferris couldn't keep up at the 12 k mark, leaving Colter to go on for the lone win. Ferris stayed ahead of the other chasers in the sleet storm to pick up second place.
The Blizzards picked up the race win with 49 Challenge Cup points to DC's 24 and GP's 2. The Blizzards are in the lead with 152 over GP's 47 and DC's 34.
