Cam Evans was involved in a bad crash at the beginning of today's final stage at the Tour of the Gila. The crash was (reported to have been) caused by a number of riders hitting the crumbling shoulder of the road due to gusting crosswinds. Cam was airlifted to hospital, mainly because of the then (deemed) inadequate small town medical services available AND because he was bleeding a lot around his face. Information for various sources say he is okay.

Scott Nydam (USA) also crashed a little later, on a downhill section at about 70 kph. He was also airlifted to a hospital after being knocked unconscious
