18 confirmed teams to the upcoming Tour de Québec 2009
The second edition of the Tour de Québec, to be held July 9-12 in the region of Quebec, has confimed 18 teams. On board are the best squads from Eastern Canada as well as many top amateur American team from North-East United States. The presence of a team from France and Haïti add an international flavour to the field.
The race will start on Orleans Island with 130km road race (4 loops). The 2nd day will feature an individual time trial along the St-Lawrence river followed by a 50km criterium in Beauport should offer a great show for the cycling enthusiasts. Saturday and Sunday include two difficult circuits of 11 and 5.7km, respectively at St-Augustin and St-Anne-de-Beaupré. Guillaume Boivin, the new Canadian champion, and his team Volkswagen will have a job to do to keep the title he won last year.
Among other favorites, are Derrick St-John, from Ride With Rendall. St-John recently finished 8th overall and was first Canadian at Tour de Beauce, in June. Garneau Club Chaussures, with Brazilian Octavio Bulgarelli and Hugo Houle, current leader at Mardis de Lachine could also shake up the race, as well as Probikepool / Kuota, with André Tremblay, 2nd at 2009 nationals. American and French teams should offer some great competition as well.

Stage 2: ITT - Champlain Blvd, Québec - 6km - July 10th
Stage 3: Critérium - Beauport - 50km - July 10th
Stage 4: Road Race - St-Augustin - 110km - July 11th
Stage 5: Road Race - Côte de Beaupré - 100km - July 12th
