There were several good showings by Canadians at this past weekend's Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge, which featured riders from around the world and several National champions, World Cup riders and Olympians. Though not a fast track, the Alpenrose Velodrome is an exciting, spectator-friendly track with very steep bankings. Crowds were huge and lively.
In the sprint events, the Canadian results included several brilliant rides by Travis Smith and a strong ride in the kilo by Jamie Shankland. The endurance events had impressive showings by Emile de Rosnay, including a 3rd in the 4km Pursuit and a 5th in the Points Race. Multiple World Masters champion Chris Anstey and Andy George placed well in many masters' events, such as Andy George's 3rd in the scratch race.
