Photos from the first 3 days of racing
Good news for the Canadians Wednesday morning at the PanAm track championships (Mexico) where the qualifications for the 200 metre sprint were held.
Out of 31 entries, Canada placed 3 racers in the first nine. Travis Smith took second place with a new personnal best of 9.9 seconds, Joe Veloce took sixth place with a 10.2 seconds also a new personnal best and Lawrence Leroux took 9th place with a 10.3 seconds also a new personnal best for him .
In the subsequent matchsprint tournament, Smith and Veloce advanced, winning their first and second round and will dispute 1⁄4 finals Wednesday night.
As for Leroux for whom it was his first matches in nearly two years following a sabbatical, he narrowly lost his first round match to a Cuban opponent and finished second out of 3 in his repechage.
