Popular businessman succumbs to injuries from cycling collision

At 71, Annibale "Danny" D'Addio could put 30-year-olds to shame.

The owner of Maple Leaf Collision Centre was well-known in the community as a dedicated cyclist and marathon runner.

"He had a passion for fitness," said friend Les Potapczyk, cochairman of the upcoming Terry Fox Run.

"If not running or cycling, you could find Danny at the YMCA or White Oakes almost daily. He was as fit as guys in their 30s, easily."

D'Addio, who organized the first Terry Fox Run in 1985, was riding in Niagara-on-the-Lake Sept. 3 when he collided with another cyclist.

He succumbed to his injuries three days later at Hamilton General Hospital.
