Any athletes interested in joining the Team Hardwood-Trek Mountain Bike Development Programs for 2010 can sign up at the Hardwood Ski & Bike Open House being held on October 24/25, 2009. The Programs will "officially" open for registration through Hardwood Ski & Bike starting this weekend. Head Coach Kevin Simms will be available this Sunday between 10:00-12:00 to answer questions about available programs and help parents understand which program would be most valuable for their athlete.
BRONZE BOYS & GURLZ SQUAD (ages 12 & Under)
Programs are for athletes in their first exposure to mountain biking. These athletes will develop technical riding skills to enjoy the sport of Mountain Biking and the Wednesday Night race series.
BRONZE RACE & GURLZ RACE (ages 12 & Under)
Programs are for young athletes learning how to race in the Peewee category in the Ontario Cup racing series as well as the Wednesday Night Race series.
SILVER (age 13-14) & SILVER SPORT (age 15 & 16)
Programs are for athletes looking to extend their basic skills and apply new strategies for technical riding. Athletes will be introduced to training plans and work towards racing at the Provincial level.
GOLD & HIGH PERFORMANCE (ages 14+)
Programs are for athletes interested in being competitive in the sport of Mountain Biking at the Provincial, National and International Level. Athletes are working from an individualized Training Plan for a 10 month season. Exposure to Testing, Physiology and Tactical Preparation are components of the training.
ROAD (ages 13+)
Programs are new for 2010 and geared towards athletes interested in competing in Ontario's Youth Road Series. This will be a 5 week program in its first year, with the coach travelling to the first race in the series so parents can understand how Road race events typically work.
MASTERS (age 30+)
Programs will be run again this year. Changes this year will involve coaches preparing athletes for a specific event and then all travelling to the event together. Details to follow in the new year.
ONLINE (all ages)
Programs are set up for those satellite athletes who may not live in the immediate Hardwood vicinity, however, they are interested in participating in the training days, testing and race support. We have a few athletes linked to Team Hardwood who reside in Northern areas who enjoy having the team connections upon making the long journey to races and camps.
Program Pricing has been posted on the "Team Hardwood", "SUMMER" link on the Hardwood Ski & Bike link. Feel free to visit the website for more details or contact Head Coach Kevin Simms directly.
