Canadian women mountain bikers had strong performances at the Xterra World Championships on Sunday (October 25th) in Maui, Hawaii, with Melanie McQuaid finishing third, Danelle Kabush seventh and national champion Marie-Helene Premont 12th. The offroad triathlon consists of a one mile (1.6 km) swim, 20 mile (32 km) mountain bike ride and 7 mile (11 km) trail run. Premont was 37th overall in the bike portion and the second fastest woman (by five seconds), behind women's champion Julie Dibens of Great Britain. However, Premont was 377th in the swim and 156th in the run.
