(Hamilton) City Cycling Plan Mapped and Online
Transportation for Liveable Communities has taken the data from the Shifting Gears Cycling Plan, recently approved by council, and mapped it out on an interactive Google Map.

The map of 223 city and 49 rural projects can be found at tlchamilton.org.

"We decided to make the map available online so people can see where the new bike lanes and multi-use trails will be and think about how the new routes can be used in their day-to-day routines. We encourage people to pick up the phone and let their councillors know that they support the plan," says Nicholas Ellens of TLC.

(Commonwealth) Games panel concerned at revised dates for venues
The Commonwealth Games Federation’s Coordination Commission (CoCom) Wednesday expressed concern at the deadline for the completion of venues being extended by at least three months, and cautioned that further delays could compromise final preparations for the Oct 3-14 mega event.

The CoCom, chaired by Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) treasurer Austin Sealy, completed its review of Delhi’s preparedness for the 2010 Games.

Contador Says 2010 Tour Of Spain Route Favours Climbers
Double Tour de France champion Alberto Contador was excited by the highly mountainous route of next year's Tour of Spain unveiled on Wednesday.

"It's an inspiring route, one which gives the climbers a lot of opportunities," Spaniard Contador, who won the race in 2008, told reporters.

The Museum of Copenhagen is currently hosting an “imaginative exhibition” on the Denmark capital’s bicycle culture, school trip groups may be interested to learn.

‘Copenhagen by Bicycle’ is on now, and will run until 27 June 2010. This special exhibition looks at the history of the bicycle and its representation in art, literature and popular music.

Rochester: an emerging world-class cycling spot
High Falls is a stunning natural landmark and attraction in downtown Rochester, but to people bicycling through the city on the Genesee Riverway Trail, there's no clear, marked way to get there. Cyclist Jon Schull says that he takes a different route each time because he doesn't know the best way to go.

"We are already one of the best bicycling destinations in the world, but no one is telling that story."

New York City bikers to protest in the buff Saturday over bike lane removal
Bicyclists planning a Saturday protest ride are calling it their “Freedom Ride” - free of clothing, that is. And they may be pedaling naked in a fierce snowstorm, if the forecast holds.

The removal of clothing is meant as a protest over the removal of a bike lane in Williamsburg, an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn. The activists want to go topless in front of Hasidic residents who “can’t handle scantily clad women” on wheels, bike messenger Heather Loop told a local newspaper earlier this week.

Woman hit in unpainted bike lane is not protected by law
When Portlander Rob Daray witnessed a right-hook collision on his commute home last summer he thought it was obvious who was at fault. So did the police officer who cited the operator of the motor vehicle for “failure to yield to a bicycle.” Even the woman driving the car admitted she made an abrupt right turn without checking her blind spots.

But when the case came up in traffic court, the judge came to a different conclusion and now Mr. Daray and others familiar with this are worried that people who ride bicycles are vulnerable — not just on the street, but in the legal system as well.
