Québec Mountain Bike History Made at Alma
Here in Québec, every other year the Finales des Jeux du Québec gathers young boys and girls from all the regions in a mini-olympic event. These Finales des Jeux du Québec have a summer and a winter version. Cycling is one of these summer sports, and mountain bike was just admitted this year as a "demonstration sport". A cross-country and a relay race were on the schedule of events. 105 minime, cadet and junior athletes were present for these games.
The Québec-Chaudière-Appalaches region got 4 gold and 2 bronze at the cross-country, won the relay race and finished first in the overall score amongst the 14 different regions that had sent athletes to the Games.
The winners's coaches Lucie Marcoux and Jean-François Paquet did a wonderful job in building a team spirit and team strategy for this historic event.
