The West Quebec Wheelers are into season 3 of our winter roller racing antics. We have been making the most of our unique old school 4roller set hosting winter racing fun in the beer halls of Ottawa while raising awareness and funds to support the Echelon Projects youth cycling initiatives and our Tour of Martinique participation.

Race #1 of the 2010 season packed the hall in Aylmer QC on January 23rd and a record 63 riders took a shot at the Gold Sprint style 500m fixed fork, the 1000m free rollers or the 5km invitational. Close finishes forced a re-run in one semi-final. Young speed and enthusiasm held off all challengers in the 500m. Grit and spit spun 53x11 to top speed. Beers and cheers raised the volume to frantic level for all the finals. Fun cycling celebration in dark winter indoor warmth.

Next stop is February 20, 2010 in Montreal, in the heart of Canada's cycling scene.

Round #1 champions Flo Laplante (Espoir Saputo) and Alex Cataford (Élicycle Rocky-Mountain) will be making the journey from Ottawa to take on all challengers in the 500m. 2009 Quebec-Montreal Champion, Jean Sebastien Perron of Louis Garneau will be down from Quebec City to take on all in the 5000m head to head match.

With the great support of Martin and Fernand Rooseboom of Patrick Sport and Cycles, the Wheelers are coming to town with our old school 4-roller Racing Clock.

Time for a winter celebration of bike racing. Money raised will be donated to the Bromont Velodrome Racing program.

Anyone can ride the 500m, we supply the bikes mounted to the rollers. Free wheeling roller racers can bring your own bikes, 53x11 max gear and race 1000m.

These competition rollers are heavy, silky smooth and a joy to ride on. At 50lbs a set they sit solid on the floor and have the floor rumbling.

There are sure to be some challengers in Montreal for our champs.

Bring your own rollers to warm up in the back. 500m bikes are set with 48x15 on bikes with toe clips and straps. Race in sandles to cowboy boots. Natural speed shows up.

If you are not racing then be ready to cheer on your favorites.Fund raising raffles for some great prizes. Race for fun, glory and a shot at a medal.

Everyone gets a qualifying ride and the top 16 head to the elimination rounds. 4 in each FINAL.
