The men are just about to start their 6 lap race. They will do a Start Loop + 6 Laps of the 6.82 km course
Total Race Distance: 2.15 km + 6 x 6.82 km = 43.07 km
A fast start with Geoff Kabush getting the holeshot in front of a field of 183
Start Loop
At the end of the start loop there is still a long, long line of riders. Ralph Naef (Multivan Merida Biking Team) at the front as they come round

Across the line and heading out to Lap 1 it is Lukas Flückiger (Trek World Racing), followed by Ralph Naef (Multivan Merida Biking Team), Julien Absalon (Orbea), Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory Racing), Nino Schurter (Scott-Swisspower Mtb-Racing) and Geoff Kabush (Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain) sitting 5th
Derek Zandstra (Canadian National Team) 35th, Matthew Hadley (Canadian National Team) 73rd

First time through the drop at Worry Gill, and still a long long line of steady riders, with some small gaps beginning to appear. Absalon and Naef appear to be opening a small gap on the next bunch

Through Worry Gill for the 2nd time, 4 riders now at the front being led by Naef, followed by Absalon then Schurter and Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez (Giant Italia Team), followed closely by Burry Stander (Specialized Factory Racing)

LEaders head through Worry Gill for the 2nd time and the bunch is still 9 or 10 at the front up the climb, but now on the descent and heading for the end of the lap, it is 6 being led by World Champ Nino Schurter, with Absalon on his wheel, followed by Naef, Burry Stander bringing up the rear

Starting lap 3 it is still a 12 man group at teh front now: Naef goes through at the front, followed by Schurter, Absalon, Gutierrez, Fontana, Stander, Ruben Ruzafa Cueto (Orbea), Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory Racing) Lukas Flückiger (Trek World Racing), Florian Vogel (Scott-Swisspower Mtb-Racing), Stéphane Tempier (Tx Active Bianchi)
Next bunch is a group of 4 with Kulhavy, Hermida, Lejarreta , Mathias Flückiger, at 35 seconds

Heading to the end of the 3rd lap and the group is 6, with some of the chase group getting back on as they descend

As they start the 4th lap, Stander leading Abslaon, Schurter, Fontana, Gutierrez, Ruzafa. Fluckiger and Naef at 5 sec. Fumic 9th at 22 sec, Vogel 10th s.t.

Absalon has moved to the front as they hit the singletack at the back of the course and is applying some pressure. They still have to hit the big climb

Through the drop at Worry Gill and Absalon leading Schurter with Stander trailing off at 3 sec back

Climbing up through Worry Gill and it appears as though the climb up the back of the course has Absalon and Schurter have dropped Stander and he is off by 7 sec
Through Dickson's hollow and over the bridge Absalon leading Shurter. Stander still chasing, but time is running out adn the 2 leaders head to the line

And it will be a sprint finish as he cannot drop Schurter
And Shurter takes it in the sprint
