May 20th in Fort St. John, BC
Stephen Ferris set the fastest time of the night to win the Baldonnel time trial, Thursday. His time of 22:36 was only 6 seconds slower than Colter Young’s fastest season time, set last Thursday. Peter King was second at 26:04 and Kevin Shaw third at 26:21. George Gamble was 4th at 26:28 and Pat Ferris 5th at 27:32.
Conditions were slow on a dark, cold and breezy night.
Other times were Richard Wood at 28:05, Owen Giebelhaus 30:06, Barb Polehoykie 30:36, Rob Churchill 31:10 and Adam Currie 36:00.
Thank you to Patricia Emery for timing!
The course record for this Baldonnel circuit is 21:08 minutes set by the National Time Trial Champion Olav Stana in 1987. Maybe this will be the year someone breaks this 23 year old course record.
Sunday is a 40 km time trial from the BC Alberta border at Goodlow at 11:00 am. This is a trial run for the World Masters Time Trial Challenge that will be happening in August.
There is a contingent of Peace Country riders off to Saskatoon for the Bikes On Broadway stage race. Geoff McDonald, Blaine Richter and Colter Young will be making the trip.
