The UCI time trials scheduled for Gatineau, Quebec - outside Ottawa - on June 12th are still short two foreign men's squads to meet their international requirements, according to race organizer John Large.
"We need to have five international teams as part of our UCI sanction," explains Large. "On the women's side we are in great shape with seven teams, but we still need two more men's teams."
The women have both a UCI sanction time trial and road race, while the men have a time trial.
"The prize purse for the men is as big or bigger than anything else in Canada," commented Large, "we've got cash of $8000 for the men's time trial."
So far, for the men, there are three international teams represented - Jelly Belly, United Healthcare and a Dutch squad. Two more riders from American squads would allow the organizers to meet their sanction requirements. The teams can be domestic U.S., and do not require a UCI Continental status.
On the women's side, the following teams have registered:
International Teams
Australian National Team, Webcor, Hitec Products UCK, Colavita Baci Pro, HTC Columbia, TIBCO, BMW-Bianchi
Canadian Teams
Nanoblur, Stevens, 7th Groove, Specialized Mazda Samson, Cascades, Canadian National Team, Eat Clean
