Week 5: June 15th, Dieppe NB
For the second week in a row, it was the women who shone in the individual time trial portion of the Mike’s Bike Shop Cup. Michelle Chasse had the spotlight on June 8, and now Jeannie MacDonald claimed the top spot on the podium and she was followed by another woman, Mélanie Bordage. Returning from Europe where he represented Canada in junior races, Stuart Wight scored the fastest time (23:21 over 17 km) but ended up third after the series’ handicap calculations were applied.
In the general classification, young Stéphane Cormier holds onto the Apogée leader’s jersey for the 3rd week in a row. This rookie rider is impressive. He now has 305 points and is now followed by Keith Godfrey (255 points) and Jean-Jacques Ferguson (245 points).
Next Tuesday will be the last time trial event of the series before jumping on the Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome for the month of July. For those wanting to participate in this fun, social competition, you can register on the spot (on Aviation Road) before 6:15.
