Stage 5: Ville de Québec, 127.6 km
The start was delayed for 15 min to ensure that the course was clear of vehicles
They will do 12 11 laps of the 11.6 k course but the 1st lap will be neutral
This is the same course that will be used for this fall's Pro Tour and the organizers and officials are a bit apprehensive. There is a new section added to the NE corner of the course that sends the riders through the narrow streets of Old Quebec. This area has cobbled streets, sharp turns and many opportunities for crashes.
It is hot and sunny , 27 C with a few clouds pasing over. Humidity makes the 'actual 'temp mid 30's

After 1 lap of the course the riders will come to a halt at the start/finish line and restart for an additional 11 laps

Hector Gonzalez Baeza (Heraklio-Murcia) has attacked and has an 8 sec gap

Nathan O'Neil (Bahati Foundation) has joined Gonzalez and they now have 10 sec. Peloton is splitting up on climb

1st Sprint and Andrew Pinfold (Unitedhealthcare p/b Maxxis) takes it
Crash an the bottom of the descent has taken down 8 riders. They are all getting back up and mechanics are working on their bikes. Nic Hamilton (Canadian National Team) was one of the riders

Fly V is at the front pushing the pace - Mancebo (13th in GC) in break is a threat to Day's lead

Day had a flat and dropped off the back of the bunch but rec'd a quick repair and was back in teh peloton
Sparling has been caught and the bunch is back together again and they are heading to the line
