Seamus McGrath's Race Report

Haro pro Seamus McGrath just called in to have a chat about the men's race today. "It was the craziest race I've ever done - it was like a warzone, epic. I told you before that Houffalize (Belgium) was the hardest World Cup I've every done - THIS is the hardest race I've ever done. It was like the course was covered in peanut butter. There was one section on the downhill where you'd slide down and hit a big mud hole at the bottom, trying to stay on your bike - the fans were screaming so loud it was insane.

I started out pretty good, in about 25th, and managed to work my way up to 19th by the last lap, and then I shattered and lost 7 spots on the last lap (he finished 27th). I'm pretty happy though, I was top North American, so that wasn't too bad."

Seamus tells us that the Canadian men were not having a good time:

Roland Green - in bed for 2 days prior to the race with a fever.

Peter Wedge - crashed and had to get stitches in his knee.

Eric Tourville - bent derailleur, flat tire and blew the seals on his fork.

Seamus and Chris Sheppard are going to head down to Spain now to check out the location where they plan to train this winter.
